Upon a first encounter with a Hang, people tend to assume its history is rooted in ancient culture. Contrary to this, the Hang is a contemporary instrument created in the year 2000.
Its construction is heavily influenced by the Trinidadian Steel Pan; Gamalan instruments from Indonesia; numerous gongs, bells and wind chimes from across the globe; the South Indian Ghatam and African Udo.
